Inside Line Promotions – WEST HAVEN, V.T. (June 7, 2017) – Evan Hallstrom had a strong debut in the Hallstrom Motorsports asphalt late model last Saturday at Devil’s Bowl Speedway.
Hallstrom kicked of the weekend with several rounds of practice at the half-mile asphalt oval.
“It wasn’t too bad of a debut weekend,” he said. “We were able to get to the track earlier and get some practice sessions under our belt before the heat races and feature. We got a lot of feedback from myself and from the car on how it was handling.”
Hallstrom started in the back of heat race due to the rookie rules, which states that a competitor must have a minimum of three races completed before being allowed to start from his or her original starting spot.
“I kind of just rode around in the heat race to get the feel of the car more so than anything,” he said. “It was definitely a learning experience.”
Hallstrom started the main event on the inside of the sixth row and he worked his way up to seventh to earn his first top 10 in an asphalt late model.
“I think we learned a lot moving forward for the rest of the season,” he said. “I got more comfortable with the car as the night went on and we have a good notebook started for the rest of the season.”
Additionally, Hallstrom won the car show for the late model division.
He is slated to return to action at Devil’s Bowl Speedway on June 24.
