Inside Line Promotions – BARRE, Vt. – (July 26, 2018) – Evan Hallstrom captured a seventh-place finish a week ago Thursday during a 150-lap feature at Thunder Road International Speedbowl.

Hallstrom kicked off the action with a couple of practice sessions before the heat races began. He started at the tail of his heat race in 10th and gained a couple of positions to finish eighth.

“Practice went pretty good,” he said. “We were a little loose and tightened it up to get our forward drive back. We didn’t have the pill draw we were hoping for and that kind of set us back for the rest of the night.”

Hallstrom’s heat race performance relegated him to the B Main, in which the Hallstrom Motorsports driver advanced two positions to finish third and transfer into the feature.

“We were able to transfer ourselves into the feature and get a decent starting spot,” he said. “The longer races are more in my wheelhouse so we had 150 laps to get up on the wheel.”

Hallstrom took the green flag from the inside of the third row. He made gains early on, making it up to the third position at one point, and he maintained a top-five car throughout most of the race. However, Hallstrom lost ground in the final 25 laps and settled for a seventh-place finish, which was his seventh top 10 of the season.

“The car was decent during the feature, but then we got super tight and it was tougher to handle,” he said. “It looked like everybody else got tight, too, and we were still able to hold our own for a while. It’s just frustrating to start off with a good car in practice and go backwards by the end of the night, but we will get it figured out and come back stronger for the next one.”

Hallstrom’s next race is Thursday at Thunder Road International Speedbowl.
