Hallstrom Ends Season With Solid Performance During Milk Bowl

Inside Line Promotions – BARRE, Vt. (Oct. 11, 2018) – Evan Hallstrom is happy with the results of the season finale at his home track of Thunder Road International Speedbowl, where he pulled double duty in both the super late model and late model divisions during the 56th annual Vermont Milk Bowl presented by Northfield Savings Bank in late September.

Hallstrom kicked off the Vermont Milk Bowl weekend on Sept. 28 in a super late model with the Pro All Star Series. He finished where he started – fourth – in a heat race. That lined him up on the inside of the fourth row for the 150-lap feature.

“It was good to be able to get some more seat time in the super late model,” he said. “We had a good heat race and were able to transfer into the feature with that finish.”

Unfortunately, contact with another competitor sent him over the banking, ultimately ending his night early. He was credited with a 21st-place finish.

“The feature was decent until a mishap halfway through the feature,” Hallstrom said. “We made a little contact with another competitor and got sent over the bank. Luckily the car and I are okay. But it was still a good weekend and learning experience with the super.”

Hallstrom jumped behind the wheel of a late model for the remainder of the weekend. On Sept. 29, he qualified 21st overall and was locked into the feature the next day.

“It was really nice to lock ourselves into the feature on time,” he said. “It took a lot of pressure off of us knowing we had a secure spot and didn’t have to run a heat race.”

Hallstrom started the 56th annual Vermont Milk Bowl on the outside of the 11th row. He finished 26th in the first 50-lap segment. In the second segment, Hallstrom charged to the front and ended fifth. In the third and final segment, he finished ninth. With the Milk Bowl finish based on a special points system, which consists of a cumulative finish of all three segments, Hallstrom scored a 14th-place finish.

“We didn’t have a lot of speed throughout the feature, but we still managed to have a good run,” he said. “I’m really excited about our finish this year because it’s better than last year and we were able to show how competitive we are. It’s always been on my bucket list to run the Milk Bowl and to do it competitively, so all in all it was a good weekend.”
